Nearly two decades ago Tiphany Adams was in a terrible car accident caused by a drunk driver.
That accident took away her ability to walk, and she has since been confined to a wheelchair. Fortunately, that hasn’t prevented her from becoming an inspiration to millions around the world.
While many people would give up, and throw a pity party for themselves, Tiphany decided that she was going to do something different.
Here is her story, in her own words. This is truly an amazing story worth sharing:
“Shortly after the car wreck that was caused by a drunk driver, I didn’t know how to cope… I quickly went to the only way I knew how to deal with pain which was numbing it all with alcohol & then became addicted to prescription drugs even dabbled with street drugs.”
“The loss of everyone in the wreck caused post-traumatic stress with survivors guilt so throwing drugs & alcohol in the mix it was a suicidal combination! I blacked out not remembering just trying to forget all the hurt.”
“I never say it this raw & unfiltered but it’s the truth I was lost & broken. Forced another time into a situation by a male not being able to run away due to the wheelchair, I got into an even darker place where I began to fear for my life massive panic attacks began. I knew I had to stop numbing the brokenness I felt inside the mourning as well as the grief of becoming paralyzed. I always wore a smile to make certain not a single family member knew how much I was hurting.”
“My mother’s addictions played a part in feeling rejected & abandoned growing up begging for her love & attention. I was in 5 different schools multiple street fights & court-ordered programs. The struggle was real beyond belief. I can say with certainty my move to Los Angeles 8 years ago is what helped to save my life. I don’t know if I would be in the amazing mindset I am in now if I hadn’t made the choice to be my own hero! Remember life is worth living so fight for yourself & never allow any circumstances to make you give up on living to the fullest!”
